SymptomsEach and every person express their feelings differently. It may take weeks to even identify and recognize that you have depression. Whether it is depression or major depression. Often teenagers put it aside when they begin to see signs and two weeks later they consult major depression. If you have been feeling a little blue, consult a professional or a trusted adult for further help.
Although your friends offer support, it sometimes just is not enough. Here is how to deal with a depressed friend. |
RecongizeIf you have noticed symptoms of your friend for longer than 2 weeks, talk to your friend about it. You may not be a doctor to diagnose it, but you may be able to recognize it.
|
EncourageOnce it is recognized, talk to your depressed friend about seeking help from a doctor, parent or consular. If your friend has head suicide thoughts or mentioned death tell a trusted adult immediately.
|
SupportRemind your friend it is okay, express your concern for their recent behavior. Say things like, "You can always cry on my shoulder"
"You are important to me" "I'm here for you" |
HopeKeeping reminding them who they are, say powerful meaningful things and count to care, support, encourage them to stick to medication (If on them) and continue involving them in actives (without being pushy)
